If you find yourself constantly tired during the day and reaching for a refill on your coffee cup more often than not, you may need to look at the foods you’re eating to start your day. We know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but what you eat for breakfast is just as crucial.

Get Your Greens

Greens are loaded with vitamins and minerals that can give you a big boost of energy at the start of your day, but it may seem odd to eat them before lunchtime. There are many easy ways to incorporate greens like kale and spinach into a healthy breakfast.

Whirl them up in a smoothie, scramble them into an omelette, or put them atop some avocado toast for a tasty and delicious way to start your day.

Go Nutty for Nuts and Seeds

Nuts and seeds are a great way to add more protein and other nutrients into your diet. Almonds and Chia seeds are both packed with protein, antioxidants, and fiber, and they are delicious on their own or added into another dish.

Stir some almonds into your granola, or place them atop your oatmeal. You can even eat a handful on their own if you’re running late. Chia seeds can be sprinkled on or mixed into anything, so they’re super versatile.

Focus on Healthy Fats

Not all fat is bad. Foods that contain healthy fats, like avocados and eggs, convert to energy rather than sugar. Combine the two for a really filling breakfast, or keep hard-boiled eggs on hand for grabbing when you’re on-the-go.

Of course, there’s nothing tastier than avocado toast. The creaminess of the avocado mixed with the crunch of the toast is the perfect way to start your morning.

Look to Nature

Nature has everything we need to fuel our bodies, we just need to know how to use it. Watermelon, bee pollen, bananas, and dates are the perfect example of foods that aren’t processed, yet they’re absolutely delicious and healthy for you.

Eat them on their own, or mix them into your favorite breakfast foods for a quick boost of energy first thing in the morning.
